Usyk-Fury fight ready? Says the manager of the Ukrainian

Manager Egis Klimas asks the public to wait another week. In his opinion, this is exactly how much the parties need to finally close all issues and announce the fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion between Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) and Briton Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs).

Klimas, the manager of the Ukrainian, said: “I can’t tell you as much as you would like to hear about the progress of the negotiations, because they are still in progress. Yes, that’s right, the fight is not yet agreed, but we are working on it. And we hope that in about a week we will amuse the fans with an official announcement.”

Recently, there have been many rumors about the venue of the fight. Klimas confirmed that “it’s true. Both options remain valid – both Saudi Arabia and London. I’m proud to be a part of all of this. After all, not every day there are fights for the title of absolute world champion. And even more so in heavyweight. I think this is the biggest fight in the history of boxing.”

The last time the British Lennox Lewis became the absolute heavyweight was back in 1999. But in the era of the four belts, there was no absolute yet. So far, Fury has the WBC title in his hands, and the boxer from Ukraine has the rest of the belts – WBA Super, IBF and WBO.

Yesterday it became known that if Usyk breaks, Fury already has a fallback option – and this is not boxing. The Briton previously replied to the Ukrainian: “Big bellies eat rabbits.”
