Interim UFC heavyweight champion Cyril Gan shared his expectations for the fight against the undisputed champion Francis Ngannou.
“What will be the outcome of our confrontation? Good question, even though I don’t have a proper answer for it,” Gan said at the media day. “I don’t have much imagination, so I can’t imagine how the fight will end. But I am confident in my abilities, in myself. I understand what I am capable of in a fight against such a powerful opponent. I’ve been through this before. I won’t say exactly what, but I know that I can win an early victory. It’s possible because I’m a heavyweight. I am also sure that if the opportunity arises, I will go to the submission hold or win by decision.”
Gan and Ngannou are former teammates. They will headline the UFC 270 tournament, which will take place on the night of January 23 in Anaheim. On account of 10 wins in 10 fights, Ngannou has 16 wins and 3 losses.
