Elijah Topuria promises a knockout in his fight with Alex Volkanovski

Ilia Topuria plans to spend no more than five minutes of his time on his title clash with Alexander Volkanovski.

The challenger for the UFC featherweight championship belt told UFC Español.

“I see myself finishing him in the first round by knockout,” the Spanish-Georgian fighter said. “It’s probably going to be a knockout unless he starts jumping to my feet right away. I’m going to punch his lights out.”

“I’m part of the new generation of MMA. I demonstrate a more advanced style in all aspects – on the feet, in wrestling, in grappling. I consider myself a better and more effective finisher than Volkanovski.”

“I won’t say it was the hardest training camp I’ve ever had because every camp I’ve had is challenging, but it was definitely the most professional camp I’ve ever had. We did an in-depth analysis of my opponent and we’re ready to fight.”

As a reminder, the featherweight title fight between Alex Volkanovski and Elijah Topuria will be the main event of UFC 298, which takes place on February 17 in Anaheim.
