Eddie Hearn threatens WBC: “If you keep quiet – we will make our move!”

Promoter Eddie HearnMatchroom Boxing) dissatisfied with silence World Boxing Council (WBC) and even began to threaten the organization.

Believe it or not, we are talking about his British welterweight prospect. In October, Conor Benn (21-0, 14 KOs) was caught doping and broke a megafight with compatriot Chris Eubank Jr. (32-2, 23 KOs).

The WBC is still investigating, which Hearn strongly dislikes. Judging by his tone
statements, he has already figured out how to whiten the reputation of a boxer: “I don’t want to talk a lot about this. I can only say that Benn will soon return to the ring. We are waiting for an official decision. Back in December, we shared with everyone a full account of what happened. And we can’t wait to release it to the public. We were promised by the WBC that a decision would be made by the end of December. Where is it?”

“No, I’m not criticizing them,” Hearn says. – I believe that the right decision in this situation is not easy to make. Moreover, we have provided them with a ton of information that you need to first familiarize yourself with, and then double-check and “digest”. But we need to hear their decision. Especially considering that we are talking about what happened 7 months ago. I just want everyone to know. If we don’t get a decision soon, we’ll make our move. After all, Benn has the right to fight again.”

Given that Hearn is talking about 7 months and the right to fight again, it is possible that in Matchroom Boxing decided to offer the WBC a compromise – they admitted that the banned drug was indeed (accidentally?) used by the athlete, but the alleged incident occurred around June-July. That is, Benn has already “served” a 6-month suspension and has the right to fight again.

Currently, the boxer does not have a license – did not renew it in british boxing council. In October, it was rumored that Benn had previously been caught doping – comments by Algieri and Miller. In response, the prospect stated, “Do I look like an idiot?” In December, for some reason, Benn offended Davis: “It’s stupid to throw stones in a glass house.” He, of course, answered.
