Chris Weidman names Khabib Nurmagomedov the greatest fighter of all time

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s record allows him to claim the title of the greatest fighter of all time, says former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman.

This American fighter said in a conversation with Daniel Cormier.

“If you left at the top, you would be known as the greatest fighter of all time, just like Khabib,” Weidman said. “If I had retired after I knocked out Anderson Silva, or before the fight with Luke Rockhold, my record would have been 14-0 – I would have retired and claimed the title of the greatest fighter of all time”

“Yeah, you and I both screwed up,” replied Cormier, who a few days earlier ranked the undefeated Russian fighter number four on a list of the greatest fighters in mixed martial arts history.

34-year-old Khabib Nurmagomedov chalked up his 29th professional victory in October 2020, successfully unifying the interim and current UFC lightweight titles in a confrontation with American Justin Gaethje, after which he announced his retirement.
