German Caicedo, coach of Cuban heavyweight Luis Ortiz (33-3, 28 KOs), commented on the defeat of the ward in the last fight against the Mexican Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-2, 22 KOs).
Recall that on the night of September 4-5, Ruiz knocked down Ortiz three times during a 12-round fight and eventually won on points with a minimal margin: 113-112 and 114-111 (twice).
Report from vRINGe: Oh, if only… Ruiz was worse, but defeated Ortiz
Caicedo emphasized that one of the knockdowns, namely the second, was counted erroneously.
“In the beginning of the fight, Louis missed a few hard shots that shocked him. But there was not one knockdown, there was a push. There are no questions for the other two, they were legitimate. But even with them, the fight was close, ”said Caicedo.
The coach was also asked how he sees the outcome of a possible fight between Ruiz and Deontay Wilder, who twice beat Ortiz ahead of schedule.
The answer was unequivocal: “Wilder will knock him out.”
Meanwhile, Wilder was asked about the fight with Ruiz. He suddenly spoke of death.
