At the weekend in Brooklyn (New York, USA), the former heavyweight champion American Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) will resume his career – he will hold a moderate intermediate fight with Robert Helenius (31-3, 20 KOs) from Finland. But it seems that all the thoughts of the knockout are about a potential fight with the division leader Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs).
Wilder vs Helenius – WBC eliminator semi-final. The winner of the standoff is to take on US-Mexican ex-champ Andy Ruiz Jr. wilder would
preferred slightly rewrite the script: “If everything depended only on my decision, then I would first fight Usyk, kick his ass, and then give Ruiz a title shot. Why did we choose this particular business? Because heritage and greatness are at stake here. Belts are at stake here. And if the owner of three belts offers you a fight, then how can you refuse such an offer?
Wilder believes that Usyk still looked cooler in the cruiserweight – the Ukrainian won the Super Series and became the undisputed division champion: “Why did I like him more in cruisers? I liked the way he moves and everything. In the heavy… Well… He’s good… But I liked the cruisers better. This is purely my opinion. But I respect him. Both as a fighter and as a man. Heard a lot of good things about him. And never heard no shit. We have mutual friends. They have a great opinion of him. Am I ready to fight him? I’ll be ready as soon as it’s ready. I’m not going to waste time.”
The puncher suggests that “Usyk will not stay long in boxing. Same thing for me. So why should we pull something? Am I ready to ask Al Haymon for this fight? Of course. You understand, he advises, but the final decision is still yours. It simply provides opportunities. When the time comes, I’ll tell Al, “I want to fight this guy.” And trust me, he will. Negotiation? Sometimes they take a long time. Sometimes fighters start to fill their worth. In this case, negotiations take much longer. This is a business, not everything depends on you. But more often than not, you get everything you ask for from Al.”
Earlier, Wilder said that he wants Ngannou, he is in favor. In the meantime, WBC champion Tyson Fury, the only offender of the knockout in profiring, made a prediction for the fight between Deontay and Helenius.
