Wilder: I could knock out Usyk and Fury will have to retire

Former world champion American heavyweight Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) suggests that he could well knock out the current holder of the WBA Super, IBF and WBO belts in the same weight Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) , if they had to meet in a full-time fight.

“Any fighter can be caught with a blow,” the champion is sure. “It’s just that with some it’s easier to do it, with some it’s more difficult. After all, there are cunning fighters, there are simpler ones, and there are simple ones like doors. But if you do everything right, you can hit anyone.”

On August 20, in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Usyk will fight in a rematch with Briton Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs). The first fight took place in September in London (England) – the Ukrainian won by decision of the judges.

Wilder is betting on the Ukrainian to win, but he is not 100% sure: “A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since they had their first fight. So everything depends on them. Everyone had plenty of time to prepare tactically. Everything depends on them.”

But the ex-champion is sure that the owner of the WBC belt in the same weight and his antagonist from Britain, Tyson Fury, will not return to the ring. At the same time, Deontay behaves as if he knows something: “I think he will have to end his career. That’s what I mean. He will have to. There’s a lot going on right now, I don’t want to get into it. But it looks like he’ll have to. I can’t talk about it, I can’t tell everything that I know. Yes, and I don’t want to. But once he does that, everything in the division will change, there will be new opportunities. So be on the lookout.”

It is possible that we are talking about Fury’s problems due to ties with crime boss Daniel Kinahan – the champion was previously denied a visa, was not allowed into the United States.

Meanwhile, Wilder returns to the ring. October 15 in Brooklyn (New York, USA) will fight with Robert Helenius from Finland. And here are the first statements of the boxers.
