As we reported earlier, on October 15 in Brooklyn (USA), the former world heavyweight champion 36-year-old American Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) and 38-year-old Robert Helenius (31-3, 19 KOs) from Finland.
It will be Wilder’s first ring appearance since October last year, when he was knocked out for the second time in a row by Tyson Fury. Helenius is now clearly on the rise, having twice in a row prematurely delayed the Pole Adam Kownacki.
On the occasion of the official announcement of their confrontation, Deontay and Robert made the first announcements about the fight.
“For me it was a long journey, and today it continues. I thought many times about what would be better for me – to end my career or return, – Wilder admitted. “But after my statue was erected in my hometown, and I saw how many people came to celebrate this event with me and my family, I saw all these emotions, how adult men cried in front of their children and said “he is real king”, I realized that my work was not yet finished. So here I am again, looking forward to getting back in the ring.”
“It’s so cool to be back in Brooklyn for an even bigger fight than my last one,” Helenius said. – I have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time and I am going to arrange an even bigger upset than with Kownacki. I’m going for the title and this fight will prepare me to reach my goal. Only by beating the best can I become the best heavyweight in the world. This is what I intend to do on October 15th.”
