Who will Joshua fight in April? The British observer was surprised by the answer

Former unified heavyweight champion Briton Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) will return to the ring on April 1 at O2 arena in London (England). But the name of his opponent is still unknown.

opinion
shared leading British columnist Gareth Davies. He, frankly, surprised: “I think it will be Demsey McKean from Australia. Really I think so. Why is that? Because for Joshua it’s a 4-5 round fight. And at this stage of his career, that’s exactly what he needs – a fight to regain confidence in his abilities. He will have no problems with this opponent, and in July he will have a rematch with Dillian Whyte.

Davis is confident that “Joshua needs an interim fight. This became clear immediately after the rematch with Oleksandr Usyk (when Joshua broke loose, grabbed the microphone, emotionally and not very coherently congratulated the opponent on the victory).

The thing is that, judging by the latest data, McKean is not among the top contenders for this fight. The American Jermain Franklin allegedly has the most chances. Also called the names of Otto Wallin from Sweden and Zhang Zhilei from China. There was even talk of the Croatian Filip Hrgovic.

Yesterday, McKean found the reason why Joshua has not yet been selected as a rival. And the promoter of the ex-champion promised the fans: “You will be happy.”
