Who if not Bivol or “Plan B” for Canelo: Hearn named 5 names

The absolute champion of the super middleweight division (up to 76.2 kg) Mexican Canelo Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) is inclined to have a rematch with Russian light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol (21-0, 11 KOs), but a clear answer to the question , in which category and when exactly – in May or September 2023 – given the operation on the arm, not yet.

Meanwhile, British promoter Eddie Hearn, who works closely with Alvarez, is stocking up on backup options for the superstar boxer if Bivol doesn’t work out for some reason.

In the next
conversation with DAZN, the functionary did not specify anything, but nevertheless named a number of names – Canelo’s possible opponents for a return. In particular:

— Chris Eubank Jr.hereinafter in brackets – approx. vRINGe: if Alvarez wants to hurry up with the implementation of the previously voiced desire to perform in the UK);

– John Ryder (in case of victory over Zach Parker, also in the UK);

– Jaime Munguia (as an option for a long-awaited return to Mexico);

– Jermall Charlo (doubtful, given that this one has been out of action since June 2021 due to an injury);

– David Benavidez (in case of victory in the eliminator over Caleb Plant, but also very unlikely, as for a comeback after an injury).

Just in case, Hearn added that “Alvarez is ready to fight anyone.”

Bivol has previously stated that he is interested in a rematch with Canelo at 76.2 kg.
