British heavyweight Dillian Whyte (29-3, 19 KOs) was promised a rematch with compatriot Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs). But not now, but later – this summer. The fighters met back in 2015 in prospect clash – the future world champion Joshua won ahead of schedule.
Anthony will return to the ring on April 1 in London (England). He will fight with American Jermain Franklin (21-1, 14 KOs), who in the previous fight was thin (and, according to many observers and fans, it is completely controversial) lost to White. There is nothing surprising in this, because Joshua has two defeats in a row to the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) in a passive.
White is very unhappy with this decision: “I don’t like that Joshua is allowed everything he wants. Look, if he really wants to fight me, then it’s easy to organize, right? Especially since we are 1-1 (White beat Joshua as an amateur) and I have been insisting on this fight for the last 7 years. Can anyone explain to me why we can’t finally fight? (Promoter) Eddie Hearn talks a lot about this fight. But things never went beyond talk. They just take my time. I was not even offered a fight, there were no serious negotiations. You understand how stressful this situation is for me.”
White does not understand why the bosses did not insist on the duel
streaming DAZN: “It’s a no brainer that the Joshua vs White rematch is a huge deal, especially for the UK and for DAZN. As far as I understand, streaming needs quality and cool content. So why didn’t they intervene? Why didn’t they insist? I was promised a fight if I won. I won, but no one offered me Joshua. Since then, no one has offered me anything. Obviously, I’m not going to sit idle. They have already used me as a scapegoat all these years. I won’t let you do this to me again.”
Previously, there were rumors that Dillian Whyte and Otto Wallin could fight in April, with the winner getting a fight with Joshua. A little earlier, White offered Chisora a third fight – but not in boxing. He promises to smear Ngannou. And that includes MMA.
