On September 17, the United States will host the third confrontation between longtime enemies Mexican Saul Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) and Kazakhstani Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs). The previous ones ended in a draw and a minimal victory for Canelo.

This time, the antagonists will fight in the super middleweight limit – the title of the undisputed world champion, which Canelo won last November, is at stake. Previous fights took place in the division below.
For the veteran Golovkin, the upcoming fight is a debut in the division up to 76.2 kg, but the promoter of the show, Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) sees no problem in this: “I think Golovkin’s transition to super middleweights is only in his favor. For me, in the previous fight against Ryota Murata, he looked too emaciated from the weight cut. So he will only be more comfortable at 76.2 kg.”
Hearn shared his prediction: “Expecting a brutal mahach that won’t go all the way. Golovkin got a little bit for the fight with Murata, but he still ran over his opponent. But Canelo will have a special attitude. First, he just lost to light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol. And secondly, he just doesn’t like Golovkin. That’s why I expect it to be that brutal.”
According to Hearn, Canelo must beat Golovkin, otherwise he risks his career. Also the boss Matchroom Boxing talked about the fight between Alvarez and Benavidez. Hearn wants to make the big fight even bigger. Meanwhile, Canelo explained why he would fight Golovkin first and then Bivol.
