Volkanovski’s team confirmed Tsarukyan’s invitation to the training camp

Alexander Volkanovski’s trainer, Joe Lopez, confirmed that they were trying to get Arman Tsarukyan into their training camp, who put up a serious resistance to Islam Makhachev in his debut fight under the organization’s banner.

“We really asked him to join us,” the Australian specialist told Time For Sports. “Islam is a formidable adversary, and Tsarukyan looked good in a duel with him. It was a close fight, especially in terms of grappling. And I met Arman several times, we know each other, so I contacted him. And I know his manager well, with whom I also discussed this. I was told that Tsarukyan was interested, but there are only a few weeks left, and he is still missing, so I don’t know if he will come or not. We never heard from them again.”

Earlier, Tsarukyan revealed that he turned down an offer from the Australian team because Volkanovski’s training didn’t fit into his own training camp.

Recall that the superfight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski, who will have the UFC lightweight championship belt owned by a Russian at stake, will head the UFC 284 tournament in Perth on February 11.
