Middleweight Joaquin Buckley will have his own version of Sensei Seagal for UFC Vegas 48 fight when internet-famous Dale Brown corners him against Abdul Razak Alhassan.
The meme-friendly Detroit Urban Survival Training founder made quite an impression on Buckley. A person close to Buckley confirmed to MMA Fighting a TMZ that Brown would be attending the UFC APEX Saturday to offer some tips.
Buckley’s visit to D.U.S.T.
Buckley’s trip to D.U.S.T. earlier in the year was an obvious fit, given his viral star status for his knockout against Impa Kasanganay and Brown for his weapon disarming techniques that are questionably effective.
Brown will now allegedly be a hand-to-hand combat specialist’s real-time advisor, much like actor Steven Seagal for Anderson Silva many years back. Seagal, of course, never got the chance to officially corner the then-UFC middleweight champ, but didn’t hesitate to take credit for the front kick that knocked out Vitor Belfort at UFC 126.
Buckley could have an extra pair of eyes if weapons were permitted in the Octagon. But as it stands, he’ll work for his fourth UFC win in six tries on the ESPN+ televised card.
