Champions Charles Oliveira and Rose Namajunas are up next.
UFC 274, has two titles on the line. The lightweight champion Oliveira will be up against Justin Gaethje, while the strawweight champion Rose Namajunas faces Carla Esparza. This rematch takes place against Rose Namajunas who defeated her seven years ago to win the UFC’s first 115-pound title.
On Sunday, the UFC released a trailer for the May 7 event that can be watched above.
Also featured is the fight between Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler in lightweight.
After defeating Dustin Pourier in UFC 269 last December,
Oliviera is seeking the second defense for his lightweight title. “Do Bronx” has won 10 straight fights with a litany of highlight reel knockouts and submissions during that stretch. Gaethje is his opponent, an ex-interim titleholder and known as “The Highlight”, who seeks to regain undisputed status.
Namajunas is in her second title reign and she has knocked off the likes of Zhang Weili, Jessica Andrade, and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. But it’s Esparza who has bragging rights in their rivalry.
Esparza defeated Namajunas at the finals The Ultimate Fighter 20 in December 2014 in order to permanently mark her place in history as the UFC’s first strawweight champion. She has won five straight fights to earn a chance at regaining the belt.
UFC 274 takes place May 7 at Footprint Center in Phoenix.
