At the ONE 161 show in Singapore, Roman knocked out the Brazilian Guto Inocente
Grand Prix finalists determined ONE Championship heavyweight kickboxing and it will be a trilogy between two of the promotion’s top offensive fighters.
Thursday, September 29, Ukrainian Roman Kryklya and Iranian Iraj Azizpur won their semi-final bouts at ONE 161. And now they will continue their longtime rivalry in the showdown for the prestigious Grand Prix tournament silver belt.
Reigning ONE World Light Heavyweight Kickboxing Champion Roman Kryklya has shown that he is dangerous at heavyweight as well. The Ukrainian completely dominated the Brazilian legend Guto Inocente. The 2m Ukrainian put on an amazing masterclass in the Grand Prix semi-finals, finishing Inocente in just 52 seconds, his fastest victory in his pro career.
The 30-year-old Kryklya struck the 36-year-old opponent with a crushing blow to the jaw with his right hand, and he instantly fell to the platform. The Brazilian barely got to his feet after the count of eight, but his legs were clearly wobbly. Realizing this, Kryklja immediately returned to the fight and landed a clean kick to the head, which caused the referee to step in and award the victory by TKO.
This success brought the Ukrainian giant a bonus of 50 thousand dollars and a place in the Grand Prix final of the tournament. And also a chance to sort things out again with Azizpur, with whom he has a 1:1 draw so far.
