Video: Bellator 290 Brennan Ward slams Sabah Homasi using a brutal head kick that leads to a second round knockout

Brennan Ward continued his career resurgence with a highlight reel finish for the first ever Bellator fight on CBS.

After nearly being clobbered in the opening round, Ward came back with a ferocious head kick that floored opponent Sabah Homasi in the second frame. As soon as Homasi hit the ground, Ward followed up with a barrage of punches that left the referee no choice but to stop the fight with the end coming at 1:34 in the second round to kick off the Bellator 290 main card.

After his third consecutive win, Ward stated that

“Sabah was tough and almost knocked him out in round one. I need to be crowned. “I’m willing to go .”

Homasi and Ward were throwing the bombs right from the beginning of a fight that had been billed as an action-packed slugfest. After Ward opened his eye, Homasi took first blood. He was aiming for a knockout and used a timing jump knee strike to take Ward off his feet. Ward also tried several painful calf kicks.

Ward turned to his grappling to slow Homasi down as he dragged the fight to the ground, took the back and started looking for the submission. The welterweights eventually got back to the feet with Ward pressing forward with flurries and Homasi biting down on his mouthpiece and firing right back at him.

Homasi seemed to be running out of gas as the second round began. This allowed Ward, an aggressive and aggressive man, to chase him down with a flurry of strikes. Ward struck a combo that caused Homasi to lose his head. Soon, Ward’s hair became reddened with blood.

Ward continued dishing out the punishment until he uncorked a massive head kick that blasted Homasi and the American Top Team fighter crashed to the canvas. Ward then jumped up to the floor and began throwing punches until Homasi was dead.

After a five-year absence, Ward was back in Bellator 2022 after he won two consecutive knockout victories. With the victory over Homasi, Ward now has a third win to his record. Ward looks back stronger than ever as he nears title contention at 170.
