Veteran businessman explains why Spence-Crawford fight may not take place

Promoter Bob Arum (Top Rank) suggests that the most anticipated fight of the year – for the title of absolute welterweight champion between two pound American champions Errol Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) and Terence Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) – may well not take place.

The promoter clearly explains, what is the main problem of the fight: “I do not argue that there is an incredible spectator interest in this event. But, alas, this does not mean at all that it will be successfully implemented on PPV. The problem is very simple – these are pirated broadcasts. AT Premier Boxing Champions are ready to make a fight, to provide boxers with solid fees, but they need financial help from the outside in this. And until a third party subsidizes this event, I’m not at all sure that the fight will take place.

Arum suggests making changes to PPV broadcasts: “I believe that if we reduced the cost to 20-25 USD, that is, returned to where we started, then the fans would not have to rack their brains and look for some alternative illegal channels” .

Meanwhile, the ex-contender explained why Spence – Crawford is a so-so fight. But the expert believes that the champions will have at least two face-to-face fights.
