These days, the promoter of Ukrainian heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) Oleksandr Krasyuk is on a working visit to the UK, where he will try to negotiate the terms of the fight between his ward and Briton Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) for the title undisputed division champion.
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has already booked London’s Wembley Stadium for April 29. But the parties still cannot agree on the division of the prize fund: Usyk wants 50/50, but Tyson insists on most of the “cash pie”, motivating this by holding the fight on his territory – they say, the public will mostly go to the stands and buy PPV- broadcast just for him.
The insidious plan of the Fury team: get Usyk’s promoter drunk
Krasyuk confirmed the conditions put forward by the British boxer. But he does not consider them reasonable.
“How can you justify this? Just because he’s English? So-so excuse, – notes Krasyuk. “On the other hand, Fury might say, ‘OK, it doesn’t matter to me who I fight at all. Whether it’s Usyk or some dude from the supermarket, I can still sell Wembley Stadium.”
“But, kamon, uncle, this is a sport,” recalls the Ukrainian functionary. “It’s not just about professional boxing. Go to Hollywood if you want to make that kind of money. If you are a king, you must prove it. Prove against a guy with three belts.”
And Eddie Hearn is already running ahead of the engine with might and main and claims that Joshua will replace Usyk and fight Fury.
