Usyk’s promoter commented on Fury’s “retirement”, recalled the Klitschko brothers

Promoter Alexander Krasyuk (K2 Promotions) does not believe that the WBC heavyweight champion Briton Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) has finally retired and hopes that he will give the green light to the fight for all division titles. So far, the fighter has all the other heavyweight belts K2 Ukrainian Alexander Usik (19-0, 13 KOs) – soon he will have a rematch with Briton Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs).

“To be honest, I don’t take Fury’s words seriously,”
admitted Krasyuk. – It’s one thing to hear the same thing from a 44-year-old tired fighter. And another thing from a dude who is now on top of the world, whom everyone loves and supports. You know, we’ve seen so many exits and comebacks in this sport. I remember how Vitali Klitschko left boxing. And how he came back a few years later. I remember how Wladimir Klitschko ended his career 6 years ago, but still has not abandoned the idea of a comeback. That’s the reason why I don’t think Fury is done with boxing.”

“You know, you can’t believe everything Fury says,” Krasyuk smiles. – Today he says one thing, tomorrow another, the day after tomorrow already the third. He is a showman, feels the mood of the crowd and says what they want to hear. You yourself know what a sensation will be when he “changes his mind” and returns to the ring. He needs to constantly stir up interest in himself, constantly be heard. No, I do not rule out that he really thought about retirement. But I doubt that this decision is final.”

Krasyuk does not hide the fact that the fight with Fury is Usyk’s goal. But still he does not want to get ahead of himself: “We should not look behind Joshua’s back. But if we still talk about global strategy, then it is exactly that – a fight with Fury for the title of absolute world champion. Alexander already has three titles. But we have a very difficult revenge ahead of us. Like I said before, Joshua has nothing to lose. There will be no pressure. It will be without titles, without the support of fans and native walls. The only pressure is the realization that another loss could be the end of his career.”

“I do not rule out that in the rematch Joshua will be more liberated. Plus, now he has the experience of confronting Usyk. Perhaps he will even prepare some tricks, some developments. I believe that this time Usyk will be even more difficult. But after he defends all the titles, he will want to fight Fury for the absolute. No one knows what Tyson will decide at that moment. Will he change his mind about leaving boxing, will he vacate the title. But right now it doesn’t matter. After all, now our whole focus is on a rematch with Joshua, ”Krasyuk said.

In September last year in London (England), Usyk beat Joshua by unanimous decision and took away the WBA Super, IBF and WBO titles. The Ukrainian is obliged to give the Briton revenge, since such a clause was spelled out in the contract.

In the meantime, the “pound” from The Ring has been updated: Usyk is the leader, Bivol could not get around Lomachenko. A little earlier, promoter Eddie Hearn shared some good news about the Usyk-Joshua rematch.
