The promoter of the WBC world heavyweight champion (over 101.6 kg) British Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) Frank Warren (Queensberry Promotions) in
interview told the British media about conversations with Tyson.
The functionary also spoke about Fury’s possible fights against the unified IBF / WBO / WBA champion from Ukraine Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) and ex-champion from Britain Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs), and also expressed his opinion about the rematch between Usyk and Joshua in the Middle East.
– Is there any progress in negotiations with Tyson Fury? Will he come back or not?
“I didn’t talk to him about it. I’ll leave it to him. Let him do what he wants. But we had conversations. The last one is this morning. And we’ll meet for dinner next week. That, in fact, is all. If he wants to fight, if hunger and desire are with him, then he will do it. If not, then no. So he will make the decision. From what I know, he returned to the hall. He enjoys it. He needs to be in the gym because it’s good for him, for his good health. Everything is for his good. Therefore, if he feels himself in the training process and wants to fight, then great. If not, then no. No one puts pressure on him, because he has no obligation to defend.
– Do you think that the result of the Usyk-Joshua rematch will make it more likely, will the hunger return? Which of them does he want more?
– I’ll be honest with you. I’m biased. I think he is by far the best heavyweight in the world. I would love to see him fight Joshua. Just to prove to my ego why I think he was and will be the best fighter. It also seems to me that if he fights Usyk, he will show it too. They are very similar in style, but Tyson is much bigger and stronger. Looking at what Usyk did to Joshua, he did it because it was Joshua. But there were other guys that he fought. You can see these fights. Don’t get me wrong, he is one of the most incredible and legendary champions in cruiserweight, but I just feel that Tyson is going to be too big and too strong for him.
– What do you think about the fact that Usyk-Joshua’s rematch will take place in the Middle East?
“They go to where the money is, where they feel they will make money.
Meanwhile, Joshua came to the students and threatened to beat them, Fury commented: video.
