Usyk fights not for money, but for history and Ukraine – champion’s promoter

Promoter Alexander Krasyuk (K2) spoke with media representatives about the second fight between Ukrainian unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) and Briton Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs).

The revenge will take place on August 20 in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), and in the first fight the Ukrainian won by decision of the judges, took away the WBA Super, IBF and WBO belts from the British.

Krasyuk on tactical drawing: “Joshua will offer everything he has: muscle, skill, spirit, the psychology of a winner. But he has nothing that Usyk would not be ready for. Alexander will do everything in the ring that will be required of him in his corner, he will play his own game: fight smart, rely on speed, footwork, tactics. In general, he will do everything for which we love him. He will come out for revenge as the reigning champion. His goal is not just to win a particular duel. He wants to leave a mark on history. He wants to become the undisputed world champion in the second weight class, he wants to be the first who managed to collect all the heavyweight titles in the era of four belts.

According to Krasyuk, “Usyk is not motivated by money or even fame. He does this for his country, which these days is at war for its existence. He wants the Ukrainians to support him in this, and they will support him, because Ukraine needs this and other victories. Whatever happens on Saturday will glorify his native country.”
