Usman Nurmagomedov: “Benson Henderson is as dangerous as ever”

Reigning Bellator lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov, who will defend his belt against Benson Henderson in the quarter-finals of the Bellator Grand Prix this weekend, shared his expectations for the upcoming fight with the former UFC and WEC title holder.

“Benson is a big figure in MMA, he is a legend of this sport, and defeating him is very good for my history,” the Russian said at a press conference before the event. “It will be nice to beat such a titled fighter, and it’s good for my career to have such a person on my resume”

“Underestimation can play a cruel joke not only in fights, but also in life, so I don’t approach this fight with an underestimation of the opponent. I know he’s just as dangerous as ever. Although he lost some fights, you can’t write off such an experienced veteran in any way. ”

Nurmagomedov also told who will second him in the upcoming fight.

“Islam Makhachev, Islam Mamedov, my brother Umar Nurmagomedov, and coach Javier Mendez”

The title fight between Usman Nurmagomedov and Benson Henderson will be the main event of the Bellator 292 tournament, which will be held on March 10 in San Jose.
