Unbeaten Byunn and McCrory competed for the title, the opening act was biter

Fabriksporthalle, Frankfurt, Germany. In the main event of the show, the vacant IBO light heavyweight title (up to 79.4 kg) was played by unbeaten German Leon Byunn (18-1, 9 KOs) and prospect Pedraig McCrory (15-0, 9 KOs). The guest won.

Bunn slowly pressed behind the traditional German high block. McCrory worked unconventionally: low-down hands, frequent change of racks, unexpected blows at strange angles, sometimes fell behind sweeping splashes.

Byunn jabbed the guest’s nose. In response, he shook the favorite with a left hook, and then dropped it. He was close to delaying, but the referee found an excuse to intervene – he gave the German a little time to recover.

In the 3rd round, Byunn again visited the floor. He managed to hold out until the gong, but then he barely crawled to his corner. Uppercuts and side McCrory are very dangerous. Worst of all, he throws these heavy bombs in series. The German tried to hide in the clinch, but was also physically inferior to the Irishman – he threw off his opponent.

Byunn managed to avoid the floor in the 4th and 5th rounds, but still lost without options. In the 6th three-minute period, McCrory knocked down his opponent #3. The referee looked at Bunn carefully and realized that enough was enough.

McCrory TKO 6.

In the limit of the second featherweight (up to 59 kg), European amateur champion Irish prospect
Kurt Walker (4-0, 1 KO) beat the young Colombian
Yina Caicedo (6-5-3, 2 KOs).

The underdog tried hard to impose power boxing on the favorite, and in one of the episodes he even bit him. All the same, it did not help – the Irishman won by decision of the judges. But not to say that I was impressed.

Walker UD 6.
