This was announced by former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“Today we had serious talks. Umar will be in the UFC main event soon,” the undefeated Russian wrote on social media, posting a photo of his relative and his manager, Ali Abdelaziz.
Umar Nurmagomedov, 27, is undefeated, on a four-fight streak in the UFC, and is twelfth in the organization’s bantamweight division. The fight with the Russian was offered to the first rating number, Merab Dvalishvili, however, the Georgian fighter refused the fight, citing a hand injury and lack of time to prepare.
UFC President Dana White said over the weekend that the league’s matchmakers are having some difficulty organizing another fight with Nurmagomedov, as none of the fighters ahead of him in the rankings want to fight him.
