A few days earlier, the Russian’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, complained that the UFC matchmakers were unable to organize a fight for his ward, as all potential opponents were refusing the bout.
Undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov is riding a four-fight win streak under the UFC banner, knocking out Brazilian Raoni Barcelos in the first round in his last fight. The 28-year-old Russian fighter was scheduled to fight American Corey Sandhagen in August, which theoretically could have been a contender fight, but Nurmagomedov suffered a shoulder injury that required surgery and withdrew from the bout.
According to Nurmagomedov, he expects to return to the octagon at UFC 298, which takes place Feb. 17 in Anaheim
