UFC Vegas 60 Video: Gregory Rodrigues survives the gruesome cut in order to defeat Chidi Najokuani during round 2.

Gregory Rodrigues will probably need a lot of stitches after UFC Vegas 60 but he’ll get the work done with a smile on his face after pulling off an incredible comeback to finish Chidi Njokuani in the co-main event.

Rodrigues sustained a severe head injury from the massive knee strike that landed in round one. He continued to press Njokuani relentlessly. Rodrigues knew that Njokuani might be unable to continue the fight if his injury got worse so he continued pushing Njokuani with relentless pressure until the bout was stopped.

The end came at 1:27 in the second round as Rodrigues secured the TKO win.

“I know one thing, I’m born for this,” Rodrigues You need to kill me. You can come along with me, alive or dead. I’m the ‘Robocop.’ I felt the blood coming out but I said calm down, don’t rush. Chidi is a warrior. It was a pleasure to take on the best guys in this cage .”

Njokuani is a fast and blistering starter. His huge knee strike cracked Rodrigues during the first exchange, and left the Brazilian with wobbly legs. Njokuani was determined to capitalise as Rodrigues tried to recuperate while Njokuani also wiped his face due to the stream of blood that had flowed down from Rodrigues’s gruesome cut during that first flurry.

Just when it looked like Rodrigues was in serious trouble, he unloaded a pair of heavy right hands that sat Njokuani down. Rodrigues began throwing punches at Njokuani in an effort to end the fight, but Njokuani was firing enough back that he stopped the assault.

Between rounds, Rodrigues was treated by the cutter to give him the chance to keep going despite his large cut between the eyes. He was given the green light by the doctor, who also instructed the referee that Rodrigues be watched in the event of an emergency.

Rodrigues never allowed that to happen as he came after Njokuani with everything left in his arsenal, which led to the fight ending up on the ground where he just started hammering away with strikes. Rodrigues celebrated a good job just a few seconds after the fight ended.

Rodrigues has now picked up back-to-back wins while moving his overall UFC record to 4-1 while continuing to prove he’s one of the most exciting fighters on the entire roster.
