Shavkat Rakhmonov continued to live up to the hype by passing his latest test after dispatching Neil Magny in the UFC Vegas 57 co-main event.
The undefeated welterweight was dominant from start to finish and capped off his performance with a late guillotine choke submission that forced Magny to tap out. The end came at 4:58 in the second round with Rakhmonov moving to 16-0 in his career with all 16 wins coming by knockout or submission.

Rakhmonov was quick to call for his next challenger after his recent victory.
“Neil Magny is good, that’s why I didn’t rush,” Rakhmonov said. I took my time. Because I knew that I was winning, I did not rush. I take my time, I look for an opportunity and once it presents itself, I capitalize on it.
“Dana White – I’m the future champion. In one or two years I will be the UFC champion. Stephen Thompson is his next opponent. Good fight .”
Magny threw a kick in no time and Rakhmonov caught it. Rakhmonov then landed the punch on Rakhmonov’s head, knocking him to the floor within the first minutes of the fight. Rakhmonov quickly seized control of the place on the ground and began to throw punches, while Magny was still under his feet.
Rakhmonov finally stood up and started to throw punches at Magny. Magny was left playing defense against a massively powerful welterweight. Despite all of his success, Rakhmonov was still methodical with his attacks so he never allowed Magny to escape.
Rakhmonov, who had been successful with his grappling skills, returned to it in round two. He grabbed onto Magny’s clinch and moved into a body lock before dragging Magny back to the floor. From there, the undefeated prospect looked to set up submissions while still peppering away with punches whenever Magny gave him an opening.
Magny tried every trick to escape the bottom or reverse his position, but Rakhmonov kept at it.
As the second round came to a close, Rakhmonov decided to hunt for a guillotine choke and as soon as he grabbed the neck, he fell into guard to lock up the submission, with Magny tapping out just before the horn sounded.
Khamzat and Rakhmonov have been two of the most promising prospects in the UFC’s welterweight division since Kamaru Usman became the champion. This latest win will undoubtedly propel Rakhmonov up the rankings as he continues his climb towards title contention in the future.
