UFC president names rival Conor McGregor

Despite Conor McGregor’s recent claims that Dustin Poirier will be his next opponent, the Irish fighter will share the Octagon on his return with Michael Chandler, whom The Diamond defeated in a previous bout.

This was announced in an interview with sportswriter Brett Okamoto by UFC President Dana White, who assured the journalist that the former dual UFC champion would definitely return to business before finally ending his career.

“In the near future he will not retire, but he already sees light at the end of the tunnel,” the head of the organization said.

Former Bellator champion and former UFC lightweight title contender Michael Chandler has fought five fights in the world’s strongest league, scoring two wins and suffering three losses.

The last time Chandler entered the octagon was in November of this year, losing by rear naked choke in the third round to Dustin Poirier. Six months earlier, the 36-year-old American finished his compatriot Tony Fergson with a spectacular front kick, which ensured his victory in the category “Knockout of the Year” at the World MMA Awards, which has just ended in Las Vegas.

Conor McGregor, 34, who suffered a severe leg fracture last summer in a fight with Dustin Poirier, plans to return to the American Anti-Doping Agency testing pool in February and begin preparations for his next fight.
