UFC President explains why Khamzat Chimaev doesn’t fight

The long downtime of Khamzat Chimaev is connected solely with the personal problems of the fighter, and not with the fact that they cannot find an opponent for him, says the president of the strongest league in the world, Dana White.

“These are his difficulties – he has problems in his personal life, so this is not because we do not give him a fight,” the head of the UFC said in an interview with sportswriter Aaron Bronsteter. “You know how things work for us, I’ve told you about it a hundred times – we have to offer the guys three fights a year. If we don’t give them three fights a year, we have to pay them. So if they don’t fight, it’s only because they have some personal issues of their own.”

According to the Chechen fighter, the matchmakers of the organization offered him four opponents, but they all refused to sign a contract to fight him.

Earlier it was reported that Khamzat Chimaev would fight his next fight in middleweight against former UFC title contender Paulo Costa. According to the Brazilian, the fight will take place on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, which means it will be more than a year since the Borz last entered the octagon, finishing with a strangulation of Kevin Holland.
