UFC legend Anderson Silva announces retirement

The 45-year-old Brazilian had his last fight

Former dominant UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (34-11) has officially announced his retirement.

On November 1, the Brazilian held his last fight, in which he lost to Uriah Hall by knockout.

“Good morning people. Today is a special day for one simple reason – I want to say goodbye to a life dedicated to sports. Yesterday I went out and did what I love again, and I did not even imagine that I would feel happy. Even in defeat I am at peace with myself.

I want to thank my team, family, all my friends and fans from the bottom of my heart, who have watched my fights and supported me all these years. Know that your support has been a great honor for me. I hope that I left a piece of myself in the heart of each of you, which will help you overcome life’s difficulties in times of uncertainty. Never think about giving up, no matter how hard it gets. I give you all my love and respect,” wrote Silva.
