UFC fighter from Argentina responds to Canelo’s threats against Messi

After Argentina’s victory over Mexico in the second match of the World Cup in Qatar, world boxing star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez attacked one of the greatest football players of our time, Lionel Messi, on social networks, prompting Argentinean fighter Santiago Ponzinibbio to defend his compatriot.

The reason for the dissatisfaction of the Mexican was the video where Messi is in the locker room with the team celebrating the victory, and on the floor is the shirt of the Mexican national team. Canelo wrote that Messi, who scored the first goal of the match, “wiped the floor with our flag”, and also advised the football player to pray to God that he would not find him.

“I was angry,” Ponzinibbio said in an interview with MMA Fighting. “There is no point in threatening Messi. Everyone knows his career. If Alvarez doesn’t know, he better not say anything. It’s normal for players to throw shirts on the floor, they’re all sweaty, but he didn’t do anything disrespectful. Everyone who knows Messi knows that he is an impeccable athlete and a very respectful person.”

The Argentine believes that Canelo simply decided to draw attention to himself amid the hype associated with the World Cup, but if the Mexican really decided to punish the player, the UFC welterweight is ready to personally answer his claims.

“Messi played a great match. Brother, if you want to fight, I’m ready, but leave Messi alone. You got in touch with Messi, so you got in touch with the whole of Argentina! Don’t bother the guy”

Note that the 36-year-old Santiago Ponzinibbio is on a two-loss streak, losing by split decisions to Jeff Neal and Michel Pereira, and is currently preparing for a fight against Robbie Lawler, which will take place on December 10 at UFC 282 in Las Vegas.
