UFC champion Sterling admitted to drinking alcohol before the fight

Reigning UFC flyweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, has admitted to using alcoholic beverages on a regular basis to recover from weight training, which allows him to relax and get a good night’s sleep before fights.

“I always have a drink before a fight – the only time I didn’t was the recent fight with Henry Sejudo,” the American said in response to fan questions on his YouTube channel. “At dinner after a weigh-in, I usually have something on the rocks or a beer. I like to consume something that allows me to relax and get a good night’s sleep before the fight.”

As a reminder, Aljamain Sterling will return to the octagon as soon as this weekend at UFC 292 in Boston, in the main event of which he will make a title defense against his compatriot Sean O’Malley, ranked number two in the division’s rankings.

According to Sterling, regardless of the outcome of the matchup, it will be his last fight at flyweight, and he will continue his career in the featherweight division, where Australian Alexander Volkanovski holds the championship belt.
