UFC champion Dricus Du Plessis expressed his displeasure with the organization

Reigning UFC middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis, doesn’t understand why the world’s strongest league still hasn’t announced his next fight.

“I’ve agreed on an opponent and location, so what are we waiting for?” the South African wrote on social media.

“If the location is determined, the date is determined automatically,” the UFC champion added in response to a fan’s question about the fight date.

In doing so, Du Plessis indirectly confirmed that the event in question is UFC 305, which takes place on August 17 in Perth. The South African fighter is reportedly scheduled to make a title defense against former division champion, Israel Adesanya, as part of the Australian numbered event, however, representatives of the organization have yet to make an official statement on the matter.

Last September, Israel Adesanya suffered a sensational defeat, losing by unanimous decision to Sean Strickland and losing the UFC middleweight championship belt, and in January of this year, Dricus Du Plessis defeated the American by split decision and became the new champion of the division.

Adding intrigue to the potential Adesanya-Du Plessis showdown is the personal conflict that arose after the South African promised to become the UFC’s first true African champion, questioning the New Zealand-based Nigerian’s African identity.
