The Mexican informed about it in social network, having published a photo in a hospital room.
“In the fight I broke my arm,” Grasso wrote. “We are used to the fact that pain can’t stop us, and although I was in pain, I didn’t think it was that serious and I was going to go back to training, but I soon realized that it was very bad with my arm. The surgery was a success and I know I will be fully prepared for this mega trilogy”
The women’s flyweight title fight, which headlined UFC Fight Night 227 in Las Vegas on Sept. 16, went the full distance and ended in a split decision draw with scores of 48-47, 47-48 and 47-47. In doing so, the fate of the fight was essentially decided by referee Mike Bell, who gave Grasso the last round by a score of 10-8 for a final score of 47-47.
At a special meeting of the Nevada State Athletic Commission held after the event, the judging panel reviewed the situation and concluded that Bell did not have enough reason to score the fifth round in this manner.
UFC CEO, Dana White, has already promised to give the girls a chance to complete a groundbreaking title trilogy in their next fight.
Recall that in March of this year Alexa Grasso sensationally took the championship belt from Valentina Shevchenko, finishing “Bullet” with a rear-naked choke in the fourth round.
