Jessica Andrade, Lauren Murphy will be facing off at UFC 283 in Andrade’s hometown.
Multiple sources confirmed that Andrade will be fighting Murphy at the Jan. 21 pay per-view event. The bout will be contested at 125 pounds.
UFC 283 is expected to take place at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro and air on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
After a brief stint as a strawweight champion, Andrade (from Umuarama in Parana) returns to flyweight. UFC Vegas 52, featured a headliner that saw Andrade pull off an arm-triangle choke. It’s sure to be on the best-of-year list. After losing to Valentina Shevchenko, Andrade won her second consecutive win.
Murphy is Andrade’s encounter with a fighter that saved her title chances in her latest performance. Murphy is still in contention for the title at 125 pounds after her dominant win over Miesha Tate, ex-bantam champion. She sought redemption after a disastrous outing against Shevchenko in her previous performance she said was hobbled by a bout with C-diff in training camp.
UFC 283 is expected to feature a fourth bout between flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo and ex-champ Brandon Moreno, who are 1-1-1 in a trio of bouts.
