Two ex-UFC champions will debut in fisticuffs: announcement

On April 29, Denver (USA) will host a large-scale fisticuffs show BKFC 41, the main event of which will be fights involving two former UFC champions.

Today it was officially announced by promotion president David Feldman.

It’s about the Americans Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez.

It is already known that 38-year-old Rockhold will face Mike Perry, and 39-year-old Alvarez will face Chad Mendes. It is noteworthy that both Perry and Mendes also gained fame as UFC fighters.

In addition, another former UFC fighter will perform on the show, a representative of the heavy category Ben Rothwell, whose opponent has not yet been announced.

Rockhold was the Strikeforce and UFC middleweight champion. Last August, after losing on points to Paulo Costa, he announced his retirement. However, he later changed his mind.

Alvarez held Bellator and UFC lightweight titles. It was the victory over him in November 2016 that made Conor McGregor a two-division champion. After leaving the UFC in 2018, Eddie competed in Asia’s One FC. He had his last fight in April 2021 and lost on points to the Korean Rae Yun Ok.

Note that, unlike the former champions, both Perry and Mendes already have experience in kulcha fights. For both, it is purely positive: Mike completed both fights in his favor, and Chad won the debut.
