Twister author DaMon Blackshear has volunteered to replace Cody Garbrandt

UFC lightweight division representative DaMon Blackshear, who this past weekend authored the third twister in the organization’s thirty-year history, is ready to return to the octagon in a week, replacing the injured Cody Garbrandt in a bout against Mario Bautista.

This was announced by the American fighter on social media.

The day before, it was reported that former UFC lightweight champion, Cody Garbrandt, suffered an injury and dropped out of the lineup for UFC 292, which will take place on August 19 in Boston.

DaMon Blackshear, 29, has already fought three fights this year, losing by unanimous decision to Farid Basharat, defeating Luan Lacerda by technical knockout, and finishing Jose Johnson with a twister.

Mario Bautista, 30, is riding a four-fight win streak in the UFC, finishing Guido Cannetti by rear-naked choke in his last fight.
