British and Irish boxing legend, member International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) and current promoter Barry McGuigan (Cyclone Promotions) believes that his heavyweight compatriot Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) definitely needs a fight with the unified heavyweight champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs).

opinion McGuigan, only after defeating Usyk Fury will finally consolidate in the status of a boxing legend: “The trilogy with Deontay Wilder and the victory over Wladimir Klitschko put Tyson on the path to greatness. But to become a legend, he needs a fight with Usyk. Fury proved that he is a real champion. Here without questions. But if we are talking about greatness, he must do everything so that the fight with Usyk takes place.
McGuigan believes that there are too few iconic names in Fury’s piggy bank: “If you look, there are only Klitschko and Wilder. Yes, the trilogy with Deontay was just bombing. But compare his resume with the track record of the same Lennox Lewis. Obviously, two names are not enough to claim greatness. After all, if you remove Deontay, then Tyson only has Klitschko – the fight that took place 7 years ago.
Barry is unhappy with Fury’s fight against age-old gatekeeper Derek Chisora, which will take place in December in London: “The opposition of the legends must be of a certain level.
