Tony Ferguson has received a challenge from a former rival

Former challenger for the interim UFC lightweight championship belt, Kevin Lee, who announced his retirement last summer, plans to resume his professional career and wouldn’t mind a rematch with his compatriot Tony Ferguson.

“Yeah, there are a couple of great fights that I’m interested in,” the American fighter told MiddleEasy. “It’s Tony Ferguson, and probably the winner or loser of the fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler. Those fights are interesting to me, but to be honest, I’m not too focused on the opponent right now as I still need to recover and get in shape. After that we can discuss the opponent, location and contract”

Last July, Kevin Lee returned to the octagon after a two-year hiatus, losing by guillotine choke in the first round to Russian Rinat Fakhretdinov.

Tony Ferguson suffered his seventh consecutive defeat in December, losing by unanimous decision to Britain’s Paddy Pimblett, but has made it clear he has no intention of ending his career.

In October 2017, Tony Ferguson defeated Kevin Lee by triangle choke in the third round, winning the interim UFC lightweight championship belt.
