By retiring, Khabib Nurmagomedov bears partial responsibility for the fact that the future career of his failed rival Tony Ferguson has gone precipitously downhill.
The American said this on the regular edition of the program “The MMA Hour”.
“When Khabib retired, part of me left with him,” Ferguson stated. “It sucks because there was a big hype around our fight, and then the pandemic hit, the fight went down, my team fell apart, and I was left with nothing.”
“After that, we were almost set to coach The Ultimate Fighter, the season that Chandler and McGregor ended up coaching. We had a verbal agreement, but a couple months went by and he didn’t even come out to second Makhacheva because he had a lot of different things going on in his life and he decided to completely step away from all of that. That was another blow to me. That’s why I still won’t give that bastard a hand – the fatty is still on my list”
On Dec. 16 at UFC 296 in Las Vegas, Tony Ferguson will face British prospect Paddy Pimblett in an attempt to get his career back on track after six straight losses, and if he wins he plans to challenge Conor McGregor.
