Tom Aspinall named Sergei Pavlovich’s main weakness

UFC interim heavyweight title challenger Tom Aspinall, who will share the octagon with Sergey Pavlovich this weekend, gives his opponent credit, but sees a glaring gap in the Russian knockout artist’s skills and plans to capitalize on it.

“I’m fighting the scariest guy in MMA in the worst possible circumstances with no training camp, and yet I think I can win,” the Brit said when speaking to reporters. “I’m not someone who goes out to fight for money. I won’t sign a contract for a fight and I won’t go out there if I don’t think I can win. I truly believe I will win this weekend and I will find a way to do that regardless of the circumstances”

Speaking of his opponent’s weakness, Aspinall recalls Pavlovic’s debut fight in the UFC, in which the Russian lost by technical knockout to Alistair Overeem in the first round.

“He has no idea what I really have to offer. We saw him on his back for a minimum of time, but even that was enough to realize that he didn’t look his best. He was finished, knocked out early on. On the other hand, this is heavyweight mixed martial arts – when a big guy like Alistair Overeem is pounding you into the canvas with hand and elbow strikes, it’s very hard to get up. If I put my opponent on his back, he’s finished”

Recall that the Russian-British title clash will be the second most important event of the UFC 295 tournament, which will take place on November 11 in New York.
