Tom Aspinall has named his next opponent

Interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has finally turned his attention from Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic to the winner of the fight between Curtis Blades and Jailton Almeida, whom he sees as his next opponent.

“I know Blades will fight Almeida and technically, I haven’t lost to him in the UFC,” the Brit told TNT Sports. “I’d love to get a rematch from him, and that’s what makes sense for me right now.”

According to Aspinall, he would like to make his title defense in Manchester, where the UFC plans to hold another British event this year.

“I’ve heard pretty strong rumors that the UFC is going to hold an event in Manchester. Like I said, if Blades does his thing, and I think he should, our fight in Manchester will be the best event possible. I suppose if Almeida wins, it makes sense as well.”

As a reminder, the heavyweight bout between Curtis Blades and Jailton Almeida will take place on March 9 at UFC 299 in Miami.
