Tom Aspinall clears the air on his fight with Alex Pereira

Interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has clarified the situation with the fight against Alex Pereira, the possible organization of which has been discussed by the mma community for ten days.

The Briton asked his fans who they would like to see him in the octagon with, and one fan named the current UFC light heavyweight titleholder.

“Alex Pereira wants to defend the bantamweight title and I understand that,” Aspinall responded.

The Brazilian had previously sparked talk of a potential bout with Aspinall by posting a cryptic equalizer, hinting that he wanted to fight at UFC 300 for a title in the third weight class, and the Brit backed up the intrigue by posting a corresponding Christmas video on social media.

Pereira stated in a recent interview that he doesn’t know the meaning of the numbers given, as he dreamed them up in a dream.

Tom Aspinall and Alex Pereira last stepped into the octagon on Nov. 11 at UFC 295 in New York City. Pereira finished Jiri Prochazka by second-round technical knockout in the main event of the event to win the vacant UFC light heavyweight championship belt, while Aspinall became the interim UFC heavyweight champion by knocking out Russian Sergey Pavlovic in the 69th second.
