The UFC called the announcement of the title status of the battle between Blachowicz and Pereira a mistake

Representatives of the strongest league in the world intrigued fans with the news that the light heavyweight fight between Jan Blachowicz and Alex Pereira was getting title status, and then denied this information.

“With two title fights, fan requests are on the rise – Dustin Poirier vs. Justin Gaethje, Jan Blachowicz vs. Alex Pereira,” reads a post on one of the organization’s social networks dedicated to the UFC 291 tournament, which will take place on July 29 in Salt Lake City.

Some time later, this publication was deleted, and the well-known sports columnist Mike Bohn, citing UFC representatives, explained that the message was erroneous.

“A UFC official told me this is a typo and the Blachowicz-Pereira fight remains a three-round non-title fight for now,” the reporter wrote on the social media.

Last week, the UFC light heavyweight championship again became vacant after the reigning division champion, Jamal Hill, suffered a serious injury and vacated his title, which he won earlier this year in a confrontation with Glover Teixeira.

Recall that the main event of the UFC 291 tournament will be a lightweight fight between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, in which the vacant BMF title vacated by retired Jorge Masvidal will be played.
