With a high degree of probability, the unified heavyweight champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) will not agree to a fight with the owner of the WBC belt missing from the complete collection of the British Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs). So says the father of the “Gypsy King” John Fury.
He even
compared this situation with what happened last year – two-time unified heavyweight champion compatriot Anthony Joshua refused to fight Fury: “Will it take place or not? I don’t know… I’m not ready to comment, because let’s be honest – they are far from a deal. It’s all very similar to the situation with the Fury vs Joshua fight, don’t you think?”
Fury’s father has a simple explanation for the situation: “Why is this happening? Because people forget and don’t treat others with due respect. Everyone thinks it’s all about the money. But it’s not. It’s about principles. Tyson is the A side. Tyson is the top boar of the division. Dot. Let me remind you that without Tyson, Usyk could not even fill out the entire O2 Arena. Let me remind you that when Tyson fought Wladimir Klitschko, he was not the A side. And he did not receive the money that he deserved. So now it’s his turn to dictate terms. This is his right. And the other side must treat him the way a great champion should be treated.”
Then John began to clown around a bit: “If you all think it’s about money, then give me the authority to negotiate. I’ll show you who’s the coolest negotiator in the world here. I’ll make a deal with them myself. So what if they can’t do it on their own? That’s right, call John Fury then.”
Meanwhile, boxers, columnists and boxing commentators continue to talk about who will win if the current champions still meet in a head-to-head fight. The iconic Mike Tyson is sure: “Usyk will lose to Fury. And it’s not about anthropometry.” At the same time, “Iron Mike” claims: “I respect Usyk, but …”
