This was reported by Gilbert Burns’ wife, Bruna Burns, who was in the immediate vicinity at the time of the scuffle.
“I don’t like Sean Strickland’s treshtock, but it was Dricus Du Plessis who suggested he fight here and now,” the Brazilian wrote on social media. “Sean politely asked me and my kids to step aside before jumping in.”
After jumping over two rows of seats, the American landed several punches on the South African before security intervened. The UFC champion was eventually escorted out of the gym and the head of the organization, Dana White, took the blame for the incident, admitting that he was the one who put Du Plessis next to Strickland.
Recall that the middleweight title fight between Sean Stricklandle and Dricus Du Plessis will be the main event of UFC 297, which will take place on January 20 in Toronto.
