Judging by the video, the American was injured not while lifting weights, but in sparring, when he was trying to move his opponent to the floor.
“In an evening workout last night, Jon Jones was sparring and tore the tendon that connects the pectoral muscle to the bone,” the UFC executive said. “He will need surgery, he’s out for eight months.”
Earlier it became known that the leadership of the organization decided to withdraw Stipe Miocic from the UFC 295 tournament, and to appoint a fight for the interim title between Sergei Pavlovic and Tom Aspinall, which will be the second most important event of the numbered event.
The new main event of UFC 295, which takes place Nov. 11 in New York City, is a fight for the vacant UFC bantamweight championship belt between Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira.
Recall that in March of this year Jon Jones successfully resumed his career after a three-year hiatus, in a fight for the vacant UFC heavyweight championship belt in the first round by finishing Frenchman Cyril Gana with a guillotine choke.
