Manager
David Macwater confirmed insider rumors that on December 10 at the main arena of the sports complex Madison Square Garden (New York, USA) his ward ex-absolute lightweight champion American Teofimo Lopez (17-1, 13 KOs) will most likely fight with the conqueror of two weight divisions Puerto Rican Jose Pedraza (29-4-1 14 KOs). The fight will take place in the light welterweight limit.

According to McWater, Pedraza has already received a contract for the fight: “Why him? Because he has been in the top for a long time. And Teofimo is only interested in the best of the best.”

Previously, Lopez was married to compatriot Arnold Barbosa. The manager of the ex-champion comments: “Why not Barbosa? First, name Pedraza. Secondly, he is stronger.

Both Pedraza and Lopez met in unification fights with Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko. In December 2018, the Puerto Rican lost by unanimous decision of the judges, was knocked down during the fight. In October 2020, Lopez upset Lomachenko and became the undisputed world champion.

After 13 months in the debut defense, Teofimo sensationally lost to the Australian George Kambosos, after which he announced the transition to the super lightweight division. In August, Lopez made his debut in an intermediate fight with the Mexican Pedro Campa – he confidently beat the middle peasant.

Barbosa is very unhappy with the way Lopez is behaving in the new division. Says to a compatriot: First get it! Meanwhile, Teofimo revealed who should be Canelo’s next opponent.
